Etihad Airways commenced an upgrade in capacity with its inaugural flight from Abu Dhabi to Lagos Nigeria using a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft.

The flight took off as EY673 from Abu Dhabi at 2.35 am and arrived on schedule at 7.10 am local time. The return flight EY674 departed Lagos at 8.30am and landed at Abu Dhabi at 19:00 local time.

The two-class B787-9 Dreamliner features Etihad Airways’ next-generation Business and Economy cabins configured with 299 seats – 28 Business Studios and 271 Economy Smart Seats.

In a statement by Robin Kamark, Etihad Airways Chief Commercial Officer to commemorate the inaugural flight “We are delighted to upgrade to the Dreamliner aircraft on the Lagos route to further enhance the guest experience and to meet the needs of the growing numbers of business and leisure passengers travelling to and from Nigeria’s largest city".

Flights between Nigeria and UAE have been quite lucrative with so many Nigerians travelling for fun and business opportunities. Since it's inaugural flight in July, 2012, Etihad continued to grow with increased passenger load and frequencies thereby resulting to the need for an upgrade in capacity hence the launch of the Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner.
